At
Heimie’s, it’s not just our goal to get you looking
good, but feeling good as well.
We don’t just carry good suits and hats,
but also a full array of pens, pocket watches, cigars, cufflinks,
and leather bags, belts, wallets, and other accoutrements
If you’re looking to relax over the
weekend, consider picking up a nice Dominican cigar and relaxing
by the lake with a nice cocktail. If you’re new
to cigars, ask your haberdasher or cigar retailer for advice. Cigars
come in so many colors, sizes, and shapes that it could possibly
boggle ones mind.
Cigar sizes vary incredibly, from the small
cigarillo to the massive Churchill. But not all cigars
are the same, and each of these sizes and shapes have a very
distinct flavor and draw (the draw is the cigars ability to
draw air through it’s length).
Cigars can be enjoyed
by yourself, or in groups of fellow smokers. We here
at Heimie’s will go out of our way to fill your smoking
needs.

Here’s some advice on selecting
cigars:
- A cigar should be light with matches, a
stick, or a gas fueled lighter. Liquid fuels will alter
the flavor of the cigar, so your Bic or Zippo shouldn’t
be used to light a cigar. When lighting it, make sure
to first blow through the cigar into the flame to expel any
unwanted gasses or fumes, and then begin to draw through
the cigar in puffs while rotating it. The rotation
of the cigar during the lighting process allows for an even
light, and therefore an even smoke.
- A smaller cigar will burn very hot and quickly,
and the flavor will be a little sharper. A larger cigar
will burn more coolly, and will have a more mild flavor. There
are some variables such as wrap and tightness that will also
affect the flavor.
- The cigars girth is called it’s “ring
size.” A smaller cigar would be in the 38 to
42 category, a midsize cigar 42 to 50, and a large cigar
being a ring size of 52 or above.
- Cigars need to kept at a humidity of about
68 to 72 relative humidity, and are therefore best kept in
a cedar wood lined humidor.
